“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.”

— Marcus Tullius Cicero

We built a new library to serve the Aberdeen community for decades to come.

Built over 100 years ago, Aberdeen’s former library was the second oldest continuous-use library in North Carolina. While it faithfully served generations, our growing town needed more space and greater opportunity. Today, we are proud to say - WE DID IT!

The new Aberdeen Public Library is officially open — four times larger than the previous building and thoughtfully designed to serve the evolving needs of southern Moore County for decades to come. What began as a vision in 2014 became a community-wide mission. With the generous support of donors, the tireless dedication of faithful volunteers, and the partnership of the Town of Aberdeen, 123 Exchange Street has been transformed into a vibrant hub for literacy, learning, and connection.

The adjacent lot is still a work in progress and remains in need of additional funding and development, but plans are well underway to create a beautiful outdoor reading garden that is sure to become a true gem of downtown Aberdeen. The Page Memorial Library building will begin its next chapter as the town’s archives building, preserving Aberdeen’s history for future generations.

This library stands as proof of what a community can accomplish together. Because of you, Aberdeen now has a space built not just for today — but for decades to come.

Here’s how you can help.
